Year of Glory
So I have started the book 'Year of Glory: The Life and Battles of Jeb Stuart and His Cavalry, June 1862-June 1863', and so far it's been pretty good. So, I wanted to include some pictures that are related to this book for your viewing pleasure. More about the book soon! The 13th New York CavalryJohn Singleton Mosby and his RangersAn artistic rendition of Stuart's ride around McClellanRush's Lancers, or the 6th Pennsylvania CavalryHorsemen on a rode near the Chickahominy after the Seven Days

Chickamauga: Glory or the Grave by David Powell
I have completed David Powell's second volume detailing the Chickamauga Campaign, Glory or the Grave. This installment covers the meat of the battle, which were the variety of events on September 20, 1863 that are now famous and/or legendary. Powell gives us detailed coverage of Longstreet's breakthrough, the Union retreat, and the defense of Horseshoe Ridge, with the stand of Snodgrass Hill by 'The Rock' George Thomas. Chickamauga was a very confusing battle with lots going on throughout the area. However, Powell's work is the best I've ever seen at making sense of this confusion. For the massive research condensed into this series in a readable form, this is definitely worth adding to your library.

New Direction
Since my main interest over the past couple of years has been the Civil War history of Atlanta and the surrounding environs, I decided to change my blog to the Atlanta Civil War Book Review since the last blog never really started. Basically, this blog will cover books that are dedicated to the war in Georgia. But, I will also cover new books of interest covering the entire Civil War. I am near completion of To The Gates of Atlanta by Robert Jenkins, so you'll see a review very soon. See you later!

First Book! The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Hi Everyone! Welcome to my online book club. The idea is that we'll read a little of everything, from the popular to the literary and all the genres in between. I thought we'd start with something light and popular, since we are entering the summer months (I don't know where you are, but Atlanta has been sweltering lately!). The first book is The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I don't know about you, but I've heard two main reactions to this book: 1) A Hitchockian thriller that you can't put down, and 2) A lackluster mystery with weak character development. I guess we'll decide! I'm guessing this will take about a week to read, so let's reconnect next Wednesday night the 24th. In the meantime, please post your comments. Remember: Be sure to clearly indicate if there will be any spoilers! Talk to you next week! -Robert
