Chickamauga: Glory or the Grave by David Powell

I have completed David Powell's second volume detailing the Chickamauga Campaign, Glory or the Grave. This installment covers the meat of the battle, which were the variety of events on September 20, 1863 that are now famous and/or legendary. Powell gives us detailed coverage of Longstreet's breakthrough, the Union retreat, and the defense of Horseshoe Ridge, with the stand of Snodgrass Hill by 'The Rock' George Thomas. Chickamauga was a very confusing battle with lots going on throughout the area. However, Powell's work is the best I've ever seen at making sense of this confusion. For the massive research condensed into this series in a readable form, this is definitely worth adding to your library.
